Can
you expand on your "Lucrative Compensation Plan?"
Certainly, we offer various forms of compensation. Salary, commission,
draw vs. commission, bonuses, paid vacations etc. We are also opened to
other methods suitable to individual requirements. We recognize the inadequate
compensation situation you have encounted and we encourage you to contact
us. We know the problems and we know how to fix them.
How flexible are your hours?
Extremely flexible. We know that a good number of you cannot commit
to a full time position. Our business is designed with that flexibility
in mind. We really have a very cooperative staff that assist one another.
Yes, I know that sounds hard to swallow but it is true. We have part time
people currently that are of tremendous value to us.
How often do you have meetings?
We used to have them once a month but because of our staff cooperation
and production, we now have them only when needed. We can't foresee the
future but we do not intend on having meetings just for the sake of meetings.
I rent a station now and was thinking of going back to employment.
How can you offer me that freedom to service my clientele my way without
the interference from management?
Management on a daily basis is handled by Barbara. She has been a hair
stylist for 32 years and still works behind the chair. Her experience
is critical to our business when relating to our staff. Bob is our CEO.
His experience in business is an asset for our financial well being. He
is not what you would expect from the corporate type and he hates the
controls put upon employees. Management in our salon is almost non-existent.
We encourage individual responsibility and cooperation.
I am planning on opening my own salon someday. Would you still consider
me for employment?
With your ambition, why not? You may or may not realize that competent
competition is the best thing that can happen to our industry. We work
closely with national organizations such as TSA, The
Salon Association, to help improve the industry. The experience
and knowledge you could gain from working with us will be an asset to
the entire industry. The challengers we face today are from the less competent
competition.
I am still in cosmetology school and would like to get some hands
on experience, do you have assistants?
Yes we do. In fact we are very much interested in future and limited
experience stylists and nail techs. We have a training program in place
that we know will be a valuable asset to those of you just starting out.
I have many years of experience and a full book. My problem is that
I have changed salons after buying into all these promises that never
seem to materialize. Why should I trust you?
Ask our staff. We are very much aware of your dilemma. We know that
your clients are loyal to you and once they are captive, your new salon
owner might compete with you for those clients. This problem is as old
as "Hair." We recognize that personal relationship you have
with your clients and we respect it. That being said, we also have a responsibility
to our staff, clients and our business to work together cohesively. If
you agree with that concept, you will solve that problem with Razor's
Edge. If you want to isolate yourself and your clients from our business,
we would suggest, with all due respect, that you start your own salon.
It is a very fine line that separates the stylist and the salon. We understand
that line and try to develop that cohesive relationship.
Razor's Edge is a member of The Salon
Association.
